UT MARA Debating Society

The UiTM English Debating Society (UT MARA) is the best society in UiTM that has accomplished tremendous achievements since its existence.

It was established in 1992 but only started to sporadically enter tournaments in 1995 which was a stepping stone for this club towards more involvement in debate tournaments. In 1999, this club was re-established and for the first time, UiTM’s English debaters participated in the Asians Debating Championship 1999 at the Chulalongkorn University and in the same year, we participated in the most prestigious debating tournament, the World Universities Debating Championship Sydney 1999. Since then, UT MARA has sent their debaters to various local and international tournaments. The club’s achievements were UiTM’s pride and this club was awarded as UiTM’s best club for five consecutive years.

Vision

Our vision is to become a world class society that is well-known for its numerous debate achievements, its highly-skilled debaters and its respected reputation in the national and international debate arena.

Mission

Our mission is to produce well-rounded debaters that can excel in debate tournaments and to uphold UiTM’s pride and honour in the international arena.

Objectives

In order to achieve our vision and mission, the UiTM English Debating Society prioritizes on these objectives:-

i) To organize intensive and comprehensive training programs to members of the society
ii) To participate in as many national and international tournaments that is possible.
iii) To excel and win national and international debate championships.
